Our Heroes, Foster and Adoptive Families

Zemcar was created by a group of Boston area parents who are on a mission to solve the transportation challenges of busy families. Managing the logistics and schedules of family life can be a constant juggle for many families. To alleviate this juggle and even make life a little easier we are on a mission to hire great local people as drivers and connect them with families in one mobile platform, to make life just a little easier. Between our drivers and the families we work with, we have met such amazing people we admire, but this week we want to give special praise to foster and adoptive parents. “In Massachusetts, there are 8,700 children in foster care and 2,800 with a goal of adoption. Of those children, over 800 do not have an identified match and are waiting for a permanent adoptive family.”

For the past ten years, Jordan’s Furniture and the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) have partnered on a great event – the annual Walk for Adoption. Their goal is to raise awareness and funds in support of families who open up their hearts and homes to become a “forever family” for children in need of adoption. This year, Zemcar is a proud sponsor of this event .

As they say at MARE, “You don’t have to be a perfect parent to become a foster or adoptive parent!” There are many young people, teens in particular, who are simply hoping for a loving new family and home.

The Zemcar mobile app is designed to make it easier to get trustworthy transportation help and communicate with both drivers and riders. Foster and adoptive parents would also be terrific Zemcar drivers! We are recruiting all sorts of people to be trusted drivers for families.
